| MahaBiz 2010 Dubai, First Gulf Maharashtra Business Convention, was successfully organised by GMBF and ITEC in Dubai on 23rd and 24th April, 2010. |

The inaugural session was conducted by Mr. Chirantan Joshi. Dr. Sunil Manjarekar, Co Convenor of MahaBiz 2010 Dubai, welcomed all the VIPs to the dais. Mr. Sandeep Kadwe, Convenor of MahaBiz elaborated the purpose and objectives of MahaBiz 2010 Dubai. Hon. Mr. Adhalrao Patil, MP, inaugurated the conference and congratulated organisers of MahaBiz and acknowledged its importance. The souvenir was published by H.E. Mr. M.K. Lokesh and H.E. Mr. Sanjay Verma delivered the Key Note Speech. Both the dignitaries highlighted the contribution of MH in the Indian Economy and invited entrepreneurs and investor to consider this opportunity to forge the alliances to set up businesses in both countries. The exhibition was inaugurated by Mr. Vinayakrao Patil, Chairman, Mahanana Dairy Products. Mr. Vinayakrao Patil greatly appreciated these efforts and said, this seed will grow to become a giant tree in years to come. Shri. Mansingh Pawaar assured all support from MACCIA for future activities of GMBF. GMBF is affliated to Indian Business Professional Council (IBPC) Sharjah. Mr. Sudesh Aggarwal, Chairman IBPC also assured all support GMBF would need in future and offered to set up office of GMBF and a pavilion for Maharashtra in the newly acquired building of India Trade Exhibition Center in Sharjah. Mr. Vithal Kamat and Sudhir Mandke also expressed their views.
The event was attended by over 250 delegates, around 90 coming from India and around 160 coming from UAE. The number of stalls were 14, including engineering, healthcare, food products, education, engineering services, logistics, consulting services etc. The delegates and exhibitors expressed their satisfaction of participating in MahaBiz 2010 Dubai. The organisers feel very happy about it. Panel comprising of Mr. Shriram Dandekar and Mr. Vithal Kamat spoke on “Why Maharashtra” elaborately and explained the relevance this topic in the context of MahaBiz. Mr. Vasant Lad, Partner BLS Chartered Accountants, Dubai, elaborated on how to set up business in UAE, on the panel with Mr. Chirantan Joshi. The session on tourism was very well presented by Mr. Vithal Kamat, Mr. Sachin Jakatdar and Mr. The industry related sessions were very well received and participated by the delegates. Panel comprising of Dr. Abhay Pande, Dr. Prakash Kondekar and Dr. Kishore Nimkhedkar presented scenario on Medical and Healthcare in the afternoon session on day 1. This was followed by introduction of delegates, where each delegate present got an opportunity to introduce themselves.
Day 2 started with panel discussion on topic 2010 –Decade of Collaboration, comprising of panel of Mr. Vidyasagar, CEO, State Bank of India, Dubai, Mr. Nitin Potdar, Partner, JS Associates, Law Firm in India and Mr. Avinash Nene, visiting faculty to Pune University. This was followed a very interesting session on Challenges in marketing perishable and packages food products in GCC region. This was one of the most interactive and fruitful session, in which we have formed a panel for addressing the issues related to food products, comprising of Dr. Sunil Manjarekar, Mr. Shalivahan Prabhudesai, Mr. Makrand Churi and Mr. Jayant Date. Each one of them brings expertise needed for providing such support to food products (perishable, packaged etc). Mrs. Shruti Gokhale, Director of Link Middle East, spoke on SME segment-Challenges in GCC and her speech was very well received by all the visiting delegates. The session on Education and Industry alliance, GCC and India perspective was presented by panel of Dr. K.C. Mohite and Mr. Sudhir Mandke. Dr. Mohite insisted in developing close relationship between industry and educational institutes to make the education more relevant for both counterparts. Mr. Shirish Patwardhan and Mr. Mahendra Rathod presented the topic Migration of Chemical Industry to the East and highlighted specific opportunities in the range of few million dollars to large investments to the delegates. Mr. Rathod also offered to mentor and incubate some project under his guidance in this industry. In the following session, the entire team of GMBF and MahaBiz, including Mr. Sandeep Kadwe, Dr. Sunil Manjarekar, Mr. Vivek Kolhatkar, Mr. Chirantan Joshi, Mr. Nitin Sastakar, Mr. Vilas Nargund, Mr. Oren Henriques, Mr. Gavin Dias, Mr. Prakash Kelkar, Mr. Vikas Ghorpade, Mr. Ashok Sawant, Mr. Dilip Kehedekar, Mr. Shirish Patwardhan, Dr. Kishor Nimhkedkar, Mr. Visnhu Ruat, Mr. Pankaj Kokate, Mr. Deo, Mr. Karmarkar, Mr. Rajiv Datar, Mrs. Ujwala Joshi, Mrs. Mohana Kelkar, Mr. Manoj Patil and volunteers of MahaBiz formed a panel to answer direct and most relevant questions of the delegates. The volunteers included MBA students of University of Pune, RAK Campus and volunteer from Sharjah University. A lot of UAE nationals were also present on both the days and expressed their satisfaction and support for this initiative. Signature tune for the Mahabiz was composed by Mr. Prakash Kelkar and Mr. Manoj Patil, logo was designed by Mr. Abhay Dankh from Aurangabad, entire souvenir and banner/ backdrop design was done by Mr. Ashok Sawant and Mr. Khedekar, the time keeping of the conference was good, the venue was very unique and excellent and everyone appreciated these unique features of MahaBiz 2010 Dubai.
This was followed by the concluding session and vote of thanks, proposed by Mr. Vivek Kolhatkar, Organiser of MahaBiz and Chaired by Mrs. Meenal Mohadikar, Past President of MACCIA and board member of MEDC. Advocate Jayprakash Baviskar Ex MLA from Jalgaon and Mr. Abhijeet Patil, Chairman Raja Rani Travels Private Limited, spoke on this occasion. Mr. Kolhatkar appreciated the support of the Hon. Shri Manohar Joshi who could not attend because of health reasons but who sent his compliments. Hon. Chief Minister Mr. Ashok ji Chavan, Hon. Mr. Rajendra ji Darda, Industry Minister, Agriculture Minister Hon. Mr. Balasaheb Thorat, Marketing and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Hon. Mr. Harshvardhan Patil, Industry Secretary Mr. Aziz Khan, officials of Government of Maharashtra, Main sponsors Mahananda Dairy Products, Co Sponsors MIDC, the supporting organisation, Print Partner Sakal and media partner Zee 24Taas, the advertisers, exhibitors, delegates, complimented on the efforts and success of MahaBiz 2010 and wish the best for the next MahaBiz . Mr. Mansingh Pawaar, President Elect of MACCIA, extended invitation to all MahaBiz Dubai organisers and GMBF members to participate in the next conference proposed to be held in Maharashtra, mostly at Aurangabad in the coming year. Dr. Sunil Manjarekar, on behalf of GMBF, accepted the invitation and promised to come back with a suitable date for the same. The convention was concluded on a very happy note and the delegates attended a very mesmerising entertainment program at the adjoing beautiful auditorium, fusion of dance and music presented by Ms. Rukmini Vijaykumar and Mr. Parshwanath Upadhye, who were felicitated by Mr. Ram Kini. |
